Simple weaves into complex
   when you’re around,
and the world I know unravels
    at your feet.

Magic revelry, chaos unbound—
   straight lines spiral; edges split
away the tapestry painted in my heart,
   tearing apart who I am
   at the seams.

   I’m destroyed before you,
   but I’m reborn, too—we’re
   a pair of firebirds rising
   and burning away the night.

No longer am I alone.

The destruction of who I was fails
to compare to what I am now—
   no, what we are

Halves transformed into one whole.

Among the stars we fly,
  and I’m grateful I’m loved.
I'm doing a 30 Day Poetry challenge thing at my tumblr.  This thing is what I wrote for day 1, which was the following prompt: "Write a poem where each line starts with a letter from your first name (an acrostic). It can be about anything, but it should not be about you or your name."  The link to the whole challenge can be found here at my tumblr post for it: dragonheart-butterflysoul.tumb…

No I didn't come up with this challenge myself.

Yes, it's a crappy love poem.  See?  Nothing to do with my name. Heh.

Apologies for the odd spacing and stanza structures and whatnot.  I did that for the reader's ease of finding the words I used for what spells out my name.   Yes, my real first name.

I guess I can also put this toward my 100 poetry theme challenge for #62 magic.

Apologies also for my work not being up to par.  I don't write near as much poetry as I used to...  I'm hoping that changes because I miss writing it.  Life was more...chaotic when I wrote, but I also saw more beauty in the world, even in the strife.  Now...?  Everything's dull and...kind of stale and...lifeless.  Heh. Maybe that's why I should start overflowing your inboxes with poetry again.  What do you think?
