Save me...

Sliding down the wall, my breaths come
in ragged pants.
                         Panic attack.
I scream when the phone hits tile.
Tears sting my eyes.
                               Fiction to fact.

"He's dead...bike wedged between semis..."
The words blur my mind.
                                      
                                     Mascara
bleeds my cheeks to black.
                                    "Samara,
he won't be coming back,"
                                       My mom cried.

Won't be coming back.
                                       All I hear...

Samuel wasn't coming back.

My twin wouldn't hold me again.
My nightmares wouldn't be kissed
with his light in the dead of night.
My heart's empty.  
                             Already missed.

No more calling him 'wimp'.  No more
making him laugh so hard he hurts.
No more wiping his tears away
when bullies make him eat the dirt.

"Sammy,"  His name falls from my lips.

The hole in my heart tears wider,
my hands in my hair, pulling and
twisting, banging my head.
                                          Higher
the tide of pain and madness rise.
                                          
                                       Higher
on angel wings I know you ride
Away from me.

"Sammy...save me!"

Another scream wrenches itself
from the depths of my soul.
